I Shot the Deputy is a site providing articles, commentary, reviews and news covering: music, current affairs and sport; and the occasional piece on general life and human interests. It was started by Nathaniel Mehr and articles are by him and the rest of the staff. It provides a central online location for articles to be published that cover certain specific topics and ideas and while we never set out to be an 'online 'zine' it is how we are most often referred to.

It is possible for anyone to comment on our articles but due to the number of automatic spamming systems out there it is first necessary to register; there should be a link for this on the left hand side of the screen. If you are having trouble registering at the site then email the webmaster (there's a link at the bottom of every page) and ask him to create an account on your behalf. (Please be aware the webmaster account has a spam system that will email you and ask you to check you are human by responding to the email. Unfortunately there is a high likelihood this email will land in whatever spam folder your email client uses.)

If you wish to write for the site then contact Nathaniel Mehr or Theo Graham-Brown (see the staff contact pages) and give us some idea of your writing ability. Bear in mind that we hold a primarily 'left wing' political view and are generally take an interest in 'leftfield' bands and mmusic; a quick scan through the site's articles should give an idea of what we are all about. We don't ask for exclusivity and many of our writers also publish their articles on their own blogs or on other similar online 'zines'. Regardless, the site makes no money so you'll not receive any but naturally your work remains your own to do with as you please.
